Cake, Crumbs & Commissions

Updated: Aug 16, 2020

Hi there.

Here are some moody pictures of my latest miniature cake work, a "Summer Fruits Naked Cake" that I made for one of my lovely customers.

Beneath it, the partially finished kitchen counter I'm still working on. (I think my actual kitchen took less time to put together!) I've received the hinges yesterday and glued the doors on. Now I have to work out how to make a mini curtain for the space in the middle. Had to ask my mum for help, she's brilliant at sewing!

Also, I've made the decision to stop accepting commissions.

I know this will disappoint some people, but in a nutshell polymer clay is not all there is to me. There are other things that I like to do, things that I've done all my life and that I haven't been paying them the attention they seek and I'd like to reconnect with those sides of me so I can get closer to who I am.

There are (too) many projects I want to work on and so little time in which to make them happen that when I try to work on them the flow is constantly interrupted...and some of them are left unfinished which makes me lose my motivation. Rinse and repeat.

So, I want to try and reconnect with myself again.

On that note, I'd like to thank everyone who buys my pieces, who follows me and those who just come back to check in on me from time to time to see what I'm up to. I truly truly appreciate it, from the bottom of my heart.

Another couple of things:

  • For those who'd like to know if I'm carrying on with my "30 day of polymer clay food" prompt list, yes I am! I can't remember what was next on the list, I think it was macarons. If you'd like to get involved, you can find the list here. I explain everything there.

  • My book "Miniature Cake Creations" is not available on Kindle yet; but you can do something about it if it'd difficult for you to get hold of a copy or would simply like a Kindle version. To tell my publisher you'd like to read it on Kindle, simply scroll down the Amazon product page to where it says "Tell the Publisher: I'd like to read this book on Kindle." Click on it and that's it.

Ok, I think that's it from me today. I hope this post finds you well and wherever you are in the world, I hope you and your loved ones are transitioning through this period as peacefully as possible.

Thank you for reading and I'll catch you next time,

Lots of love, Maive

PS: If I don't reply to your comments, it's because I systematically can't. I'm not being rude ^_^ But I do read them :)
